Tips on Proper Furniture Arrangement

Proper furniture placement can bring balance and harmony to our home while maximizing your living space.
Unknown to most homeowners, organization of furniture can bring balance and harmony to any space.  Oversized furniture placed in a small space will make your room smaller, cramped and crowded.  Certain piece of furniture has specific purposes thus it needs to be placed in a location suited for its use.

Often than not, we tend to buy furniture that catches our attention but in reality it has no place in our home already. This action causes disarrangement in furniture organization while at the same time making our space more crowded. The success in home decorating lies in knowing the dimensions of the room.  But of course there are options and ways to arrange and decorate our furniture inside our home.

1. Start in a clean slate. Remove first all furniture from the room. This will make it easier for you to plan and strategize the best spot to place certain furniture.

2. Bulky or big furniture like modern sectional sofas can be hard to move, if this is the case then you can just place it in the middle of the room instead of totally moving it outside.

3. Do not compromise your space over extra furniture. Decide the ones that you truly need and get rid of your furniture in a nice way like giving it to charity institutions or simply sell in a relatively low price.

4. If you have a limited room space then you might have to give up huge furniture in favor for space savers ones. In the patio for example chaise lounge cushions are good choice, same with pull over bunk beds in bedroom.

5. Once you are fully decided on the exact spot for the furniture then it’s time to bring the furniture back into the room by starting with the most central piece, it can be diningroom tables and chairs for the kitchen or a black coffee table in the living room.

6. Before finally assigning the spot where the furniture will be placed make sure that the furniture’s use or function is appropriate to where it is placed.  Take for example the bed and bedside table placement.

7. Old furniture does not mean that it is an antique piece. Likewise, just because it is antique it does not mean that it will match your home interior design. Furniture has its own set of uses and functions bear that in mind whenever buying one.

8. Opt for furniture that it made from natural materials or earth-friendly if possible.  A wooden table is more beautiful than a plastic table made overseas.

9. Once in a while move your furniture in a different spot. This will greatly enhance the look of your space.  Blackglass coffee table should not be placed in the center of the room if you are living with children for safety purposes. You can place it along the wall for the meantime or restrain yourself from buying furniture with glass until they reach a specific age.
